Yes, sorry, I edited the last reply and it made less sense afterwards. tCG = the Co-operative Group, as you correctly guessed. It's customers not shops which are members, though.

I fear you've missed the AGM for the South East region which includes Sunbury (register online at http://www.co-operativememberevents.coop/ ) so I'll see if I can raise it as a general question at my South and West one next month and you can try contacting your regional membership office. Raising questions at meetings is a great way of nudging a co-op along the right path. If you have time, you could stand for election next spring and see how high it can be taken - the democratic route is one that most customers of most other shops don't have, so I think it's worth joining the co-op to take part. Good luck with both helping to improve that poor co-op store and with the ASDA dispute.

MJ Ray - what is a tCG store?

I think it's a member of the Co-Op Group. I've never attended an AGM and raised questions! :-/

But I guess someone needs to be doing it and embarrassing the hearies! Anyone fancy accompanying me?

MJ Ray - Good points. The shop concerned was in Sunbury on Thames. I got an apology and £50 vouchers. Full story is at http://funnyoldlife.wordpress.com/2009/04/12/trying-to-be-co-operative/

I have a similar problem with ASDA. No-one is replying so this one may well end up in court.

FOL - you don't say which shop is causing the problem, so I can't pass it on, but if it's a tCG store (not one of the locally-owned ones), would you please email customer.relations@co-op.co.uk instead of doing it by letter. We should stop this *now*.

If it's a group store and you're a member of the Co-operative Group, I'd go and ask them awkward questions at this spring's AGM. As well as the just-elected customer representatives, there's usually area and regional managers of the shops. Contact your regional membership team at http://www.co-operative.coop/membership/Contact-us/ to be told the date and venue. If it's a locally-owned store, they probably have similar meetings, but it may be at a different time of year.

Unlike other shops, the co-ops have the democracy, so we should use it.

I applied for a job as Employment Adviser at RNId 2 years ago. Despite me having already worked as employment adviser for 2 years, 2 years previously, they gave the job to someone with far less signing skills and a hearing person too. They said it is because she got more placement and voluntary experience. Guess what my job title at the time when I applied for the job? Placements Officer. LMAO!!! Anyway, I am glad they didn't take me as I am in a much better job now, working for Deaf employer.
